M. S. Herrick former ambassador to France warns that the upcoming phase is crucial for returning soldiers. He urges continued wholesome entertainment, books, teachers, and lectures by business leaders to steer veterans back to peace. He calls for a massive United War Work Campaign effort to finish the task.
On a glorious Monday morning Hershey woke to signals of peace as Harrisburg and Steelton whistles blew. Citizens rushed to announce the news, churches rang, and Paul Revere inspired townfolk to shout Peace while a parade formed led by Capt. George Stout and the Swatara band joins Cocoa Avenue cheering the momentous declaration.
Hershey reserves led a parade through town with an Italian flag bearer and dignitaries beside the Hershey Red Cross and marching schoolchildren. The group traveled about nine miles, reached the square, and ended after a song jubilee as the sun shone on a glorious morning.
Lancaster nurse Katharine H. S. Becker has taken charge of welfare and health for Hershey industries. A graduate of Philadelphia General Hospital with Hopkins Hospital experience, she will oversee Hershey Hospital and offer medical guidance while coordinating with physicians. Her office is in the Press office, with daily morning consultations from 8:30 to 9.00 and noon coverage at the Factory Emergency room.

Postwar planning for Red Cross activity focuses on reconstruction in Harrisburg with Home Service and canteen needs. Hershey volunteers report strong past performance and outline weekly workrooms on Monday and Thursday, plus a Thanksgiving week schedule and a Saturday sale featuring a cow and apples with detailed bids from local residents.
Five youths from Bethany Orphans Home in Womelsdorf and others visited the Hershey employment bureau on a Tuesday morning. After being detained by Reserve Officer J F Snavely, they were jailed, but within an hour they escaped. Ralph Fiore reported the escape, and James K. Putt criticized the lack of search of prisoners prior to confinement.
For Saturday evening November 16 the feature is Pathe's six reel Her Man starring Elaine Hammerstein. The film adapts The Battle Cry from Chas Neville Buck with mountain feud action in Kentucky Cumberland range.
