Community life includes Halloween parties, garden cleanups, a Hershey choir concert memory, and a Nov 12 Armistice Day program with Hershey American Legion. Local residents attend recitals and plan family gatherings amid regional moves and a public motor subway dispute.
Miss Minnie May Mumma niece of Mr and Mrs Wilson E Rhoads and Frank Joseph Harlacher of Harrisburg were married Thursday evening October 26 at 6 oclock at the Rhoads home 829 Cocoa Avenue The ring ceremony was by Rev M LeRoy Wachter Holy Trinity Church Only immediate family attended The couple will reside in Harrisburg and be at home after November 1.
Mise Myra Harriet Ebersole and John Michael Burkholder were married at Zion Lutheran Church Hummels Town on Wednesday October 25 at 2 PM. Rev M LeRoy Wachter officiated. They honeymooned at Niagara Falls and Buffalo and will live in Hummelstown after November 1.
The Dialoma Ladies Bible Class of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church will set up a bake sale in the market house on Saturday November 4 offering pies cakes bread candy and other baked dainties. Proceeds go to church activities and charity.
Tolible David stars Richard Barthelmess in his first National release shown Saturday evening at 7 45. The Virginia mountain tale follows a caring brother and a boy’s ascent from youth to manhood through courage family love and adventure with humor and tender moments throughout.
The World's Champion Wallace Reid stars in a Paramount feature at Hershey Central Theatre on Tuesday evening November 7. Filmed in the Hollywood Post American Legion monster stadium, the scene shows Reid as Gunboat Williams defeating his rival to claim the middleweight title. Lois Wilson is the leading woman.
Readers report four anonymous notes claiming to have met Valentino at the Firemen's Fair on Wednesday and Saturday. The notes describe disguises, tango steps, and dances, with one note naming a person as Attie Grugnel and another denying rumors about Valentino visiting the post office.

On Thursday the group will go to Paxtang Rutherford Hummelstown Union Deposit Grantville Shellsville Linglestown. Friday’s stops include Hershey Penbrook Progress Ehrenaut and Oberlin. Saturday’s itinerary lists Steelton Highspire Middletown and Bachmansville.

Kenney, district manager, reports Hershey Grove No 221 has grown to 52 members since its August 4 1921 founding with a new class initiated October 24 including Mrs Pearl Trump Miss Lottie Williams and others. Officers are listed. Woodmen of the World notes its charitable distributions exceed 150000000 to widows and children and 3000000 in disability benefits.
The John Elder Men s Bible Class meets at Derry Presbyterian Church on Monday November 6 at 7 30 p m Dr J Webster Bailey will address the group on The Three Storied Man The event invites the community and promises a large attendance and engaging talk.
Ada Risser hosted a Halloween gathering for the Junior and Senior classes of Jershay High School and friends on October 28 in Hades Hall. Guests enjoyed games fortune telling dancing and refreshments with many named attendees including Ada Risser and Grace Brehm among others.
R J Walton a major area grower calls on city shoppers to buy in quantity from farmers to save middlemen profits and stock up in fall when produce is cheap. The first Get-Together Fruit and Potato Show at Harrisburg displayed apples potatoes and vegetables from four counties with Walton's large celery heavy display and Dauphin exhibitors listed.
The first recital by visiting organists on the new Midmer pipe organ at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church occurred last Sunday at 3 PM with Richard M. Stockton of Lancaster presiding. The program featured Bach, Tschaikowsky, Paderewski and others, pleasing a full house including attendees from Annville Palmyra Hummelstown and Elizabethtown.
On Monday evening a large audience attended the Hershey Mothers Club second monthly card party at the Hershey Tea House in aid of the Hershey Kindergarten. Prizes were awarded to six winners and one consolation, with future parties set for the last Monday of each month.
The Missionary Society of Shells Lutheran Church met at 78 Derry Road on Thursday evening October 26. After the monthly session and member remarks, refreshments followed with attendees listed including Rev. O R Bittner, Mr and Mrs Ramler, Mr and Mrs Shellenhamer, Mr and Mrs Herman Hetrick and others.
Last Friday during chapel Antig notta Bilotta from the junior class played a piano solo and Arthur Materazzi performed a Clarland solo. Miss Burna supervised the music and accompanied both numbers. The student body enjoyed the performances.
The Firemen's Fair closed with about 3800 admissions and 1200 in the treasury. Committee members praised volunteers, noted limited Hershey turnout, and highlighted popular events including a masquerade, boxing match, Hershey Boys concert, and Palmyra Girls Band performances. Elizabeth Copenhaver won the most popular girl prize.
Hershey schools call for clothing donations to aid Smyrna survivors. The drive asks residents to sort unused garments such as dresses coats underwear and shoes and have them cleaned mended and ready. Collectors will visit homes Wednesday Thursday and Friday. call the principal to arrange pickup.
Mrs Emma Gable wife of Henry Gable died Wednesday October 25 at her daughter Berlah Dun dore home Meadowbrook Farm southeast of Hershey. She was 71 and the death was from complications of diseases. Services were held at the house Saturday at 8 30 conducted by Rev M LeRoy Wachter Trinity Lutheran Church. Interment at Hains Church Berks County with Rev Lemback Reformed Church officiating. Wm Henry Palmyra was the funeral director.
