Salvation Army Drive Seeks Local Participation May 17 22

The Salvation Army drive in our area runs May 17 to 22 under Captain George E Copenhaver. Lieutenants A R Wirth and factory foremen will oversee a voluntary mission aimed at local support without door to door prompting. The organization serves eighteen million annually, aiding homeless, job seekers, and providing clothing, medical and moral assistance. It emphasizes voluntary contributions and social betterment.

T A A Club Dinner Springs Park Season Kickoff

The T A A Club opened the 1920 Park dinner season with an excellent ham and egg menu for 24 members. Social committee arranged and served the meal featuring doughnuts syrup bread and butter pickles olives coffee and more. From the mills department comes a complaint that milk bottles are not being returned daily. Patrons are urged to remember to return bottles promptly to avoid handicapping the milk department and unnecessary purchases of bottles.

Concert by Men’s Chorus at Park Theatre May 20

Final preparations for the Men’s Chorus concert in Park Theatre are complete. One thousand new chairs and four extra aisles were installed along with indirect lighting and interior remodeling to present a refreshed venue. Philadelphia soprano Irene Kreidler will be soloist, praised for a wide range and exquisite tone. tickets are selling fast with reserved seats available through Thursday evening and at the theatre box office.

Mother Strine Hosts Olivers Dinner at Trinidad Ave

Mrs. Mary Strine nicknamed "Mother" entertained the Olivers basketball team and wives at her home on Trinidad Avenue. Guests included Irwin Juliot Zentmyer Clark Snavely and Strine family members. Chicken and waffles were the centerpiece, prepared in a traditional way to please all guests.

Large Audience Greets Ladies Glee Club at Concert

A large audience at Central Theatre last Thursday greeted the Ladies Chorus sponsored by the YWCA, in what may be the largest local musical crowd to date. The 30-voice chorus delivered a faultless program with encores and high praise for Musical Directress Miss Beulah Shutt. The program featured Bronte, Koven, Cadman, Coleridge Taylor, and others in a diverse lineup ending with Brahms pieces.

Hershey Park to Host Seventh May Hop Night

Hershey Park announces the Seventh Annual May Hop to be held on May 26 at the pavilion. The Banjo Saxo Orchestra of Harrisburg will provide music and late-car arrangements with Traction Co. ensure extended service to Palmyra Elizabethtown Lebanon and Hummelstown. Dancing runs 8 15 p m to 12 00 a m with admission fifty cents.

A Hershey Alumni Association meeting is set for Tuesday evening May 25 at 7 30 in the High School Auditorium. Officers for the coming year will be elected and banquet plans discussed. Members are urged to attend as the meeting is deemed important.
