A Hershey Red Cross meeting is planned for Friday at 1 30 PM in the Central Theatre, second floor room. Harrisburg instructors will teach first line trench packet making, with talks on urgent government needs and calls for greater Red Cross effort.
Hershey Mothers' Club hosts a two session event on May 7 at Hershey Central Theatre. At 2:30 p m a program features patriotic songs, addresses by Dr J L Zimmerman and Supt S E Peters, a piano solo, and a film on baby care. At 7 p m mothers and children join story telling, with 8 p m program including Rev R R Butterwick, violin solo by Noah Klaus, a talk on The Child and the Movies, songs, moving pictures The Baby and Its Needs, and the Star Spangled Banner.
The Holy Trinity Lutheran Church Sunday School girls class plans a May 9 program with vocal and instrumental music. Rev. Fuller Bergstresser will lecture on "The Vinegar Peddler." An ad promotes Thrift Blend coffee and Cash and Carry Grocery items.
Citizens urged to buy liberty bonds to support young men heading to battle. Home front messaging frames sacrifice as patriotic duty, promising security and prosperity upon victory.
The Lancaster Conference of the Lutheran Church met at Holy Trinity Church over Monday evening and Tuesday. Rev. G. M. Hemsath led the main address on coopering apportionments and Lutheran work in the Virgin Islands. Rev. J. Michler spoke on the Boy Problem, detailing high youth church losses. Rev. MacIntosh gave an evening address on national blessing. Copresident Rev. H. K. Lantz was absent due to his mother’s death. Rev. P. Geo. Sieger served as president pro-tem. The conference praised Hershey hospitality and Holy Trinity’s efforts in hosting without a pastor, while welcoming pastor-elect Rev. S. S. Garnes and his soon-to-begin duties on June 1.
The Hershey Auto Show along with the new Hershey garage on Chocolate Avenue attracted large crowds last Thursday to Saturday. Manager George Stout sold five cars and collected many prospects. the Big Six Seven Passenger Studebaker and International trucks drew interest. The event featured an on-site full stock of accessories, a Hershey orchestra, and dancing as the management looks to annual auto show installments.
The Golden Sickle was performed Tuesday evening April 30 at Hershey Park Theatre by Hershey Grade School children. Director Miss Louise Beahm earned praise for the high quality and strong audience reception.
Frank Magrini of the electrical department was surprised Monday night at his Areba Street home by about 50 young people. They celebrated his 22nd birthday with dancing and music.
Lieut. Joseph Hollinger of Camp Meade is spending time here. Clarence Myers resigns from the Hershey Store to travel for a Chicago portrait company. Mr. and Mrs. Ira Mumma move from the Hershey Inn to Lebanon where Mr. Mumma will join Bethlehem Steel Company.
