Several hundred Hershey Chocolate Company workers gathered to decide retirement ages for men and women and pension eligibility. They proposed 65 for men and 55 for women, with 20 years of service needed for pension eligibility and company discretion on monthly amounts.
A Well Baby Clinic opens Thursday afternoon May 8 at the Red Cross rooms Hershey Central Theatre second floor with a baby show for prizes the prettiest cutest and best developed. Babies will be weighed and examined and defects referred to their family physicians as no medicines are given. Miss Elizabeth High leads the clinic.
W O W members are urged to attend a Tuesday evening meeting on May 6 in Hershey Pack Hall above the bowling alley. A May 20 initiatory is planned with committee chair David Sattazahn and members Joseph Stewart Harry Haebaker Melvin Deetz Edward Miller and Wim Zimmerman coordinating.
Hershey Red Cross organizes a state wide May Day event at the Hershey Schools this afternoon at 2 30. Miss McKinstry’s Saturday gym class Juniors of the Hershey Men’s Club led by Alex Magrini and health songs by the first four grades comprise the program. The event urges parent attendance and discusses public health for children.
On Saturday May 3 Blanche Sweet and Pauline Stark star in Palace of the Kings at Hershey Central Theatre with The Busher mermaid comedy as a second feature. On Tuesday May 6 John Gilbert appears in A Man's Mate with Be Yourself shown as an additional attraction.
Miss Laura Gasper of 53 Areba Avenue wed Emilio Givinetti at St. Joan of Arc Church in a 9 o clock ceremony led by Rev. P. J. Phelan. Attendants were Miss Pearl Gasper and Silvio Andonelle. A reception followed at the bride’s home with guests from Philadelphia, Harrisburg, Lebanon, Annville, Hersville, Palmyra, Swatara and Hummelstown.
Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Hummel hosted a farewell dinner at 32 Trinidad Avenue on Sunday April 27 honoring Martha V Kellholtz and her son Roy who depart May 15 for Detroit and Jerry Foltz who leaves May 12 for Kellys Flying Field Texas. Attendees included Mr and Mrs Leater Putt and daughter Geraldine Mrs Kellholtz Jerry Foltz and Mr and Mrs Claire Good and daughter Bether from Hershey and Lancaster.
The Beshiy Men's Club plans its annual camping trip with activities including hikes swimming canoeing and base ball at Pine Grove or along the Schuylkill between Reading and Philadelphia. Preparations begin as the date nears.
A benefit dance in aid of a widow and large family will be given by the Italian M. S. of Swatara on Saturday May 3 at the Italian Lodge Hall Swatara Station. Admission Ladies 25c Gentlemen 60c.
The DeMoss entertainers top bill at Hershey Central Theater on May 1 under the John Elder Men’s Bible Class of Derry Presbyterian Church. The five-member group, touring globally, offers a concert of varied instruments and readings by Verna Mae Hoover. Admission is 50 cents for adults and 25 cents for children 12 and under.

District officers should attend with plans for the coming year and superintendents are urged to cooperate by attending or sending representatives.

District Deputy Commander Neff spoke on Legion topics and Rev Hartranft gave a Northwest Pacific reminiscences address. District Convention is set for June 22 in Hershey Park. Card sales were discontinued after strong success.
Arthur R Brinser of Hershey formerly Middle town and now in Hershey Dept Store offices fished Slim Wagner's boots title belt at Spring Creek on Tuesday evening. He landed a 1734 inch trout weighing 2 pounds breaking a long standing stream record. Brinser gains followers by his fishing prowess and teaching practices.
The Her shey Volunteer Fire Co. will hold its regular annual meeting Tuesday evening May 6. Squire Miller reports on fire police to decide if nine men are needed. Paul Shoop will present details on firemen's insurance. Additional fire alarm boxes may be installed. President Wm. Brinker urges a large turnout.
The Hershey Department Store team starts the season this week with a practice game against Industrial School. The lineup features Zentmeyer brothers Hummer ngelis Cole Tinney Edis Tobias Traynor and more. Hershey Chocolate Company increases plant capacity to 7500 kilowatts with a 3500 kW turbine and new turbine room. The facility on Spring Creek serves the factory, Hershey Transit Co., and the town, supplying power, live steam, refrigeration, compressed air, and water while expanding coal handling, waste ash disposal, and intake water systems.
