Legion Dance in Hershey Draws Large Crowd
One of the greatest Hershey events, a February 22 Legion Post social at Winter Dance Hall, drew about 500 people. The night featured a Banjo-Saxo orchestra, sweet meats, punch, festive decorations, and a cakewalk won by Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Newton, with prizes awarded to several attendees. A radio broadcast attempt failed, and dancers endured antique tunes from past eras while enjoying the overall success and thanks from Post members.

The Chop Down Sale at Hershey Department Store on Washington's Birthday drew large morning noon and evening crowds as prices were chopped down to the limit. George and Martha Washington impersonators handed out hatchet shaped souvenirs while the Banjo Saxo orchestra provided music. An oval Washington portrait and a cherry tree cutout framed the store display. It took three hours to paint the canvas and an hour for the cut-out.
