Guarantees totaling almost 500000 back the Lieutenant Commander John Philip Sousa Band tour. The 75 piece ensemble, led by Sousa, performs two concerts in Hershey Park Convention Hall on July 4 with afternoon 2 30 and evening 7 30 performances. General admission 50 cents, reserved 75 cents.
The First U B Sunday School hosts a Sunday evening program on June 7 at 6 30 featuring numerous readings recitations drills songs and pantomimes by primary tots and juniors with offerings announced. Names include Ruth Zoll Richard Zentmeyer Hazel McGill Dorothy Noll Dorothy Habecker Clyde Habecker Marie Mays and Sara Leibfried among others.
The Allen A. C. of Churchtown, a strong Cumberland County semi pro team, will face Hershey Park in Hershey on Saturday June 6. Hershey seeks revenge after a Memorial Day loss and plans no fresh pitchers, while Sunday they travel to Richland for a return game.

Dr R R Butterwick of Lebanon Valley College will deliver the memorial address at the Patriotic Order Sons of America joint memorial service for the 1st and 2d Dauphin County districts. The event, June 10 at 8 pm in Washington Camp Hall 705 Hershey Park, features Clarion Quartet Palmyra and welcomes all P O S of A members families and friends.
Two Hershey troop scouts on a first class hike of fourteen miles spotted a forest fire near Vian on June 1. They reported it to a farm house and the Hershey Fire Department, aiding firefighters until the blaze was out and even dousing hot stumps after the main flames were extinguished.
William Brinker of Hershey Chocolate, driving a Willys Knight, created a dust cloud on the Wim Penn Highway that alarmed Avon residents. The town constable pursued, Brinker claimed he used the best fuel, and was cautioned to inspect his carburetor before continuing his drive.

Irvin C. Uhler, a Hershey youth known for benevolence, bought and distributed fans to patients at Ulerchey Hospital during a heatwave and returned with ice cream. He also shared Gospel booklets with soldiers in Dauphin County and plans to give Saint Matthew leaflets to Lebanon County Jail inmates.
Prof Alberts of Cleona will conduct a Hershey pupil recital at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church Thursday evening at 7 30 o clock. Piano solos and duets will accompany readings. A feature will be accordion notes by Master Victor de Angells.

Hershey Chocolate Company machinist Miles Schaeffer faced a perilous runaway horse on a steep Berkshire road while driving his Dodge Decoration Day. With no room to dodge the animal, he steered off the road, yelled WHOA, and barged the horse and buckboard away with strength, possibly saving lives.
The Hershey Vol Fire Co held its regular meeting at the Trose House with members listed. Paul Shoop was elected a delegate to the State Firemen convention in October. New members Robt Owens Jr and Chas R Swartz joined. The hose report praised 1600 feet of base hose and recommended purchasing 300 more feet. A special meeting is set for Monday at 8:00 to discuss a new chemical engine.
Percy H. Brown of Lebanon waived a hearing before Justice of the Peace Harry S. Miller on Wednesday evening and was held in 1600 bail on a charge of involuntary manslaughter after a car crash that killed 42 year old William Koons of Campbella town. Brown drove a vehicle with Koons and Henry Bender as passengers when it struck a westbound Hershey trolley near the Hershey station. Koons suffered a fractured skull and died later at Hershey Hospital. Brown was arrested by Policeman George Lafferty and represented by Edward Kk Beldleman of Llarelaburg. Beldleman waived a hearing for the defendants.

Sherwood Players stage the farce Go Easy Mabel at Hershey Park Theatre over June 4 5 6. The cast features Wayne Nunn Katharine Bauer Miss Howell with Tessie Claire and Miss Sherwood in leading roles. The production includes a three act comedy set in Spraks Apartment New York and a short musical program between acts.

Paul M Rinports and D S Graeff are among more than 258 000 Lutherans in Eastern Pennsylvania Delaware and New Jersey attending the Lutheran Ministerium of Pennsylvania convention in St Pauls Church Philadelphia. A thousand delegates discuss church work and plans for the coming year as the event closes Thursday.
Hershey defeated Cornwall in Cornwall on Sunday afternoon by a 9 to 7 score. Hershey built a five run second inning and a four run sixth inning to pull ahead, then with a six run lead in the seventh Cornwall rallied for four runs before Hershey steadied. Ream’s sensational catch of Moon’s two bagger highlighted the fielding.
Hershey Volunteer Fire Co led by Chief Lat Hoyer responded to a noon alarm from Frank Shade's chicken farm near the Green Tree woods at the Sand Hits. Firefighters and Boy Scouts battled a large pile of sawdust left by an old saw mill, gaining control after scrub woodland burned.
