Sunday Concert Delighted Large Crowd of Visitors

A Sunday afternoon Park Orchestra concert drew the largest crowd in recent memory with every shaded seat taken and many standing around the circle. Louis Colangelo’s cornet solo My Old Kentucky Home drew loud applause and encores, proving his exceptional talent.

Penn State Alumni Picnic Set for Saturday at Hershey Park

Penn State alumni and students from central Pennsylvania will gather at Hershey Park for the annual midsummer outing. About 800 attendees expected with President John M. Thomas and Hugo Bezdek among speakers and sports activities supervised by Bezdek. Harrisburg alumni lead preparations with cooperation from Reading York Lancaster Williamsport and Wilkes-Barre clubs.

Red Cross Carnival Planned at Central Theatre Lawn

The Hershey Red Cross Society holds a regular carnival on Tuesday evening August 2 on the Central Theatre Building lawn with dancing cake walks fortune telling and more. If rain the event moves to the Winter Dance Hall. Red Cross members should attend the August 1 6 30 Baby Clinic Room meeting.

Community Nurse Drive Appeals for $2000 Goal

The Red Cross chapter asks residents to support a three day fundraiser August 3 4 and 5 to fund a community nurse program Miss High leads a weekly baby clinic and school health efforts emphasizing infant care and child welfare The plan includes a Little Mothers League a bedside nursing service and community health education to prevent disease and aid families and schools The drive urges full participation not obligation with suggested gifts based on group size and a four minute public discussion at Park Theatre performances this week.

Boston born cornetist Louis Colangelo, guest of Fred Pronto in Hershey, offers a few daily teaching hours. He studied in Italy, spent over fifteen years in the United States with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and directed Swarthmore College Chautauqua Orchestra for six years. Hershey Post Plans September Ex-Service Men Smokers

Hershey Post number 386 of the American Legion met with twenty five members. Kaley led the meeting with plans for a September smoker to recruit ex service men. George Neneh was elected delegate to the Pennsylvania Department Convention in Pittsburgh, with J W Schwenk as alternate.

Washington Camp No 705 P O S of A admits nineteen new members as Harrisburg Commandery No 61 delegates the obligation. More than 75 Sons of America witness, with eight counties represented.
