Hershey Department Store appeals to milk customers to place empty bottles out in the morning for collection by the milkman. The notice laments widespread neglect and asks for prompt compliance to ensure daily pickup.
Al Luttringer, California native and head of his own company at the Park theatre, praises Hershey patrons as liberal and warm. He arrived in Hershey for a summer engagement after years in San Francisco and New York theatre, and vows to please the local audience throughout the stay.
The Community Sing will take place Friday evening July 8 at 6 15 in the Park under Mr Charles F Zeigler who will direct and has a printed free song sheet. The event accompanies the park orchestra concert and starts a series of outdoor sings with a hopeful turnout.
The Diakonia Class of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church plans a pie and cake sale on the church lawn at Granada and Cocoa Avenue. It will run Saturday afternoon July 9 from 1 to 5 o'clock.
Independence Day brought a large crowd to Hershey Park on July 4 with about thirty thousand visitors arriving by auto train trolley and horse. The Hershey Traction Co provided extra cars and a special schedule ensuring smooth service, no complaints and no accidents as crowds enjoyed swimming theater dancing and rides.
The Park Orchestra grows more popular weekly as a large crowd attends each Sunday concert. The July 10 program includes marches and overtures by Brede Rossind Sullivan Gounod DeWitt Herbert Linde Bendix and more with solos by Colangelo and Louia Colangelo and audience requests welcomed.
Owing to the Community Sing the United Brethren choir will meet for rehearsal Friday at 8:00 PM instead of 7:00 PM. Members please observe this change.
Luttringer Players present The Love of Su Sheng at the Park Theatre starting Monday July 18 for three days. Dewitt Newing’s romantic action tale set in China follows a young American’s pursuit of a Chinese girl amid four suitors and dangerous secrets. The drama blends humor and thrills with authentic Chinese customs learned from three years in China.
Preliminary arrangements for a community picnic at Boiling Springs on Wednesday July 27 are announced. A general committee led by Daniel Hershey will oversee all planning with a ticket goal of 300 full fare tickets. Train departs Hershey at 7:45 am and returns from Boiling Springs at 7:45 pm.
The Al Luttringer Stock Company at the Park Theatre receives high praise with audiences calling performances splendid and the company great. Next week features Little Shepherd of Bargain Row and Down East, two dramas praised for charm and emotional depth.
John B. Whiteman drew praise for his Ben Letts role after being imported from New York. Miss Isabelle Prentiss, a top New York booking agent, visited the company in Hershey with Mr. Luttringer and Miss Kingsley. She praised the open air theatre and plans a postproduction reception to introduce the cast to local audiences.
The Methodist Episcopal church choir plans a festival on July 16 1921 starting at 4 PM on Main street between American Stores and Mrs Franks Hursh home. Ice cream cakes candies and lemonade will be sold with Jadica servers. Committee list outlines chairs for ice cream and cake lemonade and candies and notes preparations for a successful event.
The Odd Fellows of Central Pennsylvania plan a July 21 picnic at Hershey Park with representation from more than 100 lodges. A Boys' band and Girls' Orchestra from the Sunbury orphans home join local quartets and Harrisburg storytellers in a day packed with races, contests, and prizes.
