Great Growth of Y. M. C. A. 61 Buildings Added in 1909
The Y M C A added sixty one buildings costing 6 876 000 in 1909 with as many more under way costing 6 849 000. Railroads mills and cities funded many projects including a 100 000 Gary Indiana unit and a 825 000 Norfolk sailors home. The movement shows rising membership in cities like Indianapolis Detroit and Jacksonville with rapid drives to fund dormitories and educational facilities as it expands to meet trades and school leavers.
