Replanting plan eyed for Capitol Park slopes
Harrisburg officials will submit a tree replanting scheme for Capitol Park western slopes to Governor Pinchot. Several trees planted seventy five years ago were removed due to rot while some original plantings from the Hill era were evaluated. The park's trees along State Street entrances are sparse except for preserved big elm copper beech and some sycamores. Exotic trees from different climates will be removed in the southern park area and a new successor for the Dauphin County Vocational Supervisor post will be named after state education appropriation approval. Engle’s resignation, made effective last night, created the vacancy.
