Hershey invites residents to sponsor a Christmas tree for the community. Last year over 600 children received gifts from Santa Claus with oranges, candy, popcorn and a toy. This year aims for 750 children and a treasury of at least 200 dollars, seeking voluntary donations from all residents.
Cash prizes totaling 160 will be awarded at the Lower Dauphin County Corn Potato and Poultry Show to be held in the Hershey Inn basement December 13 14 and 15. Corn and potato judging starts Thursday morning with talks by Pennsylvania State College specialists E J Walters and E M Christen. Poultry judging runs late Thursday into Friday with a talk by H D Munroe on Poultry for the Average Farm. Exhibits are organized by Corn Potatoes and Poultry committees led by Christian Balsbaugh Nathan Basehore and R L Engle. information available from county agents and committee chairs.
The Hershey Volunteer Fire Company met Tuesday at the Hose House with members present. They approved purchasing a flexible hose and search light, voted to install an electric siren at the Hose House, and set a 30 day approval for the siren.
The Woman's Missionary Society of Derry Presbyterian Church will hold its annual Praise service on Sunday evening, December 9, at 7:30. A cordial invitation is extended to all to attend.

A shooting match is slated for Saturday afternoon December 8 at 12 30 at the Rising Sun hotel Campbell Town. Participants will use 12 gauge guns with 18 drams of powder and 6 or 7 shot to shoot meer geese ducks and roostera.

Hershey Chocolate Co installs fifty new longitudinal machines to bring the total to about 300. The heavy granite based grinders process chocolate for days to achieve velvety texture and distinctive flavor, making their operation the largest in America and likely the world.
Ground will be broken next week for a handsome new addition to the residence of Mr. Ezra F. Hershey on East Chocolate Avenue. The addition will be completed some time during the coming summer. The Hershey Lumber Co. has the contract.

The local American Legion hosts a pinochle and card party Monday evening December 10 at the Winter Dance Hall. Doors open 7 45, games start 8 16. Admission is 60 cents with prizes. everyone is invited.
The United Brethren Church hosts a Sunday evening recital on December 9 at 7 30 by pupils of Mark Albert. The program includes solos duets choruses and readings by a Lebanon reader in a community park setting style.

Five new modern electric passenger cars are built for the Hershey Cuban railroad by J G Brill Company in Philadelphia and will ship next week. The line runs from Matanzas to Havana with seven 60 ton electric locomotives and two automatic sub stations powering the system. The express train departs hourly and passes the Yumuri Valley described as the valley of delight by locals and Humboldt. The railroad prides itself on punctual arrivals and departures.
Iron foundations for a General Electric 3500 IC W turbine are being laid at the Hornhee Chocolate Company power plant. Shoemaker Structural Iron Co. leads the erection as additional machinery increases factory power.
Members of the Utelem Gun Club report first buck of the South mountains season. Kindt and cousin Grange Feeger from Hershey arrived at 3 a.m. and by 7:15 a.m. the deer was tagged. George led the camp chorus and photos followed before Shultz later bagged a four pointer at 11:60 a.m.
