Hershey School begins the 1924-25 term on Tuesday September 2 with teachers first to report. Due to the Junior-Senior High not yet ready, crowded conditions persist and new grade assignments are issued for Opening Day with room numbers tied to report card numbers.
The Dauphin County Sabbath School Association Executive Committee met in Millersburg with Hershey delegates Paul R. Gingrich Irvin H. Slesser and Ivan L. Mease present. A Saturday September 20 Hershey conference program for county and district officers and Sunday School superintendents was outlined with sessions at Hershey Park or First United Brethren Church and county group conferences in the afternoon. Principal speakers include Dr M Hadwin Fisher and H W Dietz.
The Hershey Park Orchestra schedules a Sunday afternoon concert with a mixed program including Washington Graya, Rakoczy Overture, Tout Paris, The Fortune Teller, La Ferla, and Barber of Seville selections. The third annual Dauphin County Grange Fair will run September 16 to 19 east of town. Exhibits promise top-quality farm products and a strong song list with liberal premiums. A half mile race track, grand stand, and daily concerts accompany races and events. An educational exhibit by the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture and vocational school displays will educate visitors, with prizes announced on September 19. Thousands of pupils are expected to attend. Farmers are urged to submit entries soon.
The community nurse Miss Elizabeth High urges parents to ensure children are clean and free of head lice before school resumes next week. She notes Hershey’s 99 percent cleanliness but warns that just 1 percent negligence can negate broader efforts and affect a child’s character and future.
The Derry Bresbyterian Sunday School will hold its annual picnic in the Church Grove on Saturday afternoon September 6. All members and friends are invited. The Hershey Volunteer Fire Company plans its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday evening September 2. A large attendance is urged as the group considers raising dues from 1 to 20 dollars per year and may vote on the measure.
Paul Whiteman and his orchestra will perform Labor Day Monday September 1 at Hershey Park Convention Hall in a full program change. Tickets priced 1.10 1.65 and 2.20 include war tax with mail orders via J B Sollenberger Hershey Trust Co. Emeralda likely to sing again.
On Saturday August 23 five state police troops competed in Greensburg Wyoming Pottsville Butler Harrisburg with Mayor Lynn G Adams and State Police Superintendent attending. High score Sgt Gratcofsky Troop B 437. Superintendent match won by Pvt Tipton Troop B.

Banjo Saxo Orchestra plays in the dancing pavilion and a chicken and waffle dinner awaits on the Park veranda. All amusements operate including trolley, carousel, bowling, playground, roller coaster, boating and swimming.
Elbert H. Gary, chairman of United States Steel, says U S business is on a solid foundation with growing buying power and unusual demand. He notes steady improvement, large expenditures for extensions, and plans to spend at least five million dollars monthly for the rest of the year. He cites favorable foreign plans, low interest, ample money, and railroads and construction ramping up.
Hershey prepares for a Labor Day baseball clash against Richland at 3:30 PM. Supporters suggest a season finale benefit game prior to the curtain call and a $1.00 ticket to raise a purse for the players.
