Hershey Scenic Railroad Nears Completion In Park Route
A large force of sixty men and twelve teams rapidly builds the Hershey Scenic Railroad from Union Depot through the Hershey woodlands along Spring River. The two foot gauge line uses a three rail system with electric power and a fifty horsepower motor car for trips of up to sixty passengers. The project aims to open with the Park next year as a major attraction after meticulous grading and a concrete bridge over the river.

Mouth of Cavern Discovered Along Railway Line
Last Friday workers digging along a future miniature railroad north of the baseball field uncovered a large cavern mouth about two feet wide at the opening, widening inside to a twenty foot deep shaft with three chamber recesses. A mirror revealed a clear water pool and dripping rock, though a cave‑in hindered full view.
Plan to Open Industrial School This September
The board intends to open the Industrial School around September first. Several pupil applications have been presented and five have been accepted so far.

Hershey plant to add a No 2 Miehle Printing Press, a proof press, and extra type to boost output for larger bills, posters, and late breaking news. Exchange at Hershey Central store No 11 will link 75 more phones via Hummelstown, with long distance service to all US through the Harrisburg Bell Exchange.

Camp J. P. S. Gobin opened at Gettysburg on August 11 with Governor Stuart in camp as Commander-in-Chief of the National Guard of Pennsylvania. Contracts have been let for 47,599 pounds of beef 11,400 pounds of ham 5,700 pounds of bacon 2,360 pounds of cheese 1,900 pounds of butter 720 pounds of lard and 2,550 dozen eggs. Eight thousand troops engaged in a pitched battle on Tuesday.
