Dauphin County farmers are urged to plant alfalfa this month. The County Agricultural Extension Association outlines four essentials: plow early and harrow 10 to 16 times for a good seed bed, lime soil and test acidity free of charge in Harrisburg, use a fertilizer like 2-122 or 2-10-4 at 200 to 800 pounds per acre, and inoculate if prior alfalfa has not succeeded. Inoculation seeds can be obtained from State College for 25 cents per acre. R R Burtner will provide methods and guidance.

Grocers Picnic Offers Vast Prizes At Hershey Park
More than 1000 prizes will be given away at the annual grocers picnic to be held at Hershey Park on August 13. Women and children receive favors, with a large crowd expected and a full day of racing swimming and entertainment. The Sherwood Players will present a free afternoon show and dancing will follow with the Banjo Saxo Orchestra. One thousand children ages 8 to 16 will ride free, provided by Freihofer Baking Company.
