Cornerstone Laid for Fanny B Hershey Memorial Building
The cornerstone for the Fanny B Hershey Memorial Building at Hershey Industrial School was laid on Wednesday July 28. The concrete steel and brick structure will include eight classrooms a kindergarten an auditorium a gymnasium and a 20 by 60 foot swimming pool and will house a central heating plant. Milton S Hershey funds the memorial to his mother who visited the school often to help provide chocolate for the boys. Ground broke April 1 1926 and completion is aimed for April 1 1927 with expansion planned on Reservoir Hill after. Enrollment stands at 204 and is expected to reach about 350 with two more classrooms opening soon. The Boys Vested Choir and the Boys Band plan public performances, and last week 22 boys had adenoids and tonsils removed while 99 were inoculated for diphtheria and eight new arrivals were vaccinated.

Thirteen Fresh Air children from New York City spent two weeks as guests of Hershey Palmyra and Campbelltown and returned home Wednesday morning. Miss Eileen Boyle of the Hershey Department Store accompanied them as guide and chaperon. The outing is part of a movement to give city children a break from the heat and crowds and enjoy a country environment.
