Hershey won first in Class 2 in the 1915 Red Cross Seal Competition with a sale of 23 584 seals and led all U S cities with 29 44 seals per capita. Sewickley, Pittsburgh also led in their classes, and banners will be awarded at the National Association meeting in Washington May 11 12.

Hershey Fire Company Plans May Fair for Equipment
Hershey Volunteer Fire Company, in a large meeting, elected ten new members and received thirty one applications. A May fair was approved to fund new firefighting equipment, with A. C. Thanks for Ambulance Aid From England to Illinois
Mrs. Charles Dwyer of the Daughters of the British Empire in Illinois reports England’s acknowledgment for a charity bazaar. Generous donations from Mr. Hershey and a $5,000 gift fund a motor ambulance named The Daughters of the British Empire in Illinois Ambulance. The society has sent 16,624 hospital items and supports a home for the aged. Three nurses from the Prince of Wales Chapter serve at the front. The new ambulance aids Red Cross Society and St John of Jerusalem.

Hershey Transit unveils model day car barn with comforts
The Hershey Transit Company announces a new concrete and steel car barn 96 by 275 feet designed for 40 cars. It features rest rooms showers private offices lighting and ventilation with a fireproof peak roof. Groundbreaking occurred January 1 1916 and completion is slated for June with Robert Deichler of Lancaster overseeing the project. A new flag now flies atop the tower.

Three Serious Accidents In Hummelstown Area
Three serious accidents injured Hummelstown residents in the past week. John F H Fox a farmer near Hummelstown died in Harrisburg hospital Friday from a spinal hemorrhage after being thrown from a wagon Monday. Harry Hemperly fractured his right leg Friday at Rutherford yards when struck by a car coupler. Edward Forney fell from a freight car at Rutherford yards and narrowly escaped death beneath the moving car.

Hershey Flower Show Opens Sunday With Free Exhibits
Hershey announces a Sunday opening for the spring flower show with free admission to the conservatories and band concerts in the Hershey Park Amphitheater from noon to 6 pm. Next week hours extend after 8 am, with another 2 to 5 pm concert. Sunday crowds are expected to be large, following a Philadelphia show that drew tens of thousands. An added vine-decorated exhibit and baskets of flowers are highlighted. The Sunday program features the Hershey Band concert from 2 to 5 pm with a full classical and choral-themed program in two parts.
