A lively chase on a lawn near York ends when John Habacker and teammates trap a roaming hog after it eludes several pursuers. Easter Sunday visits and local social notes follow with multiple residents seen at family homes, dances, and gatherings across Hershey and surrounding towns.
The Hershey Baseball Association stages a week long carnival April 7 to 14 at the Hershey Winter Dance Hall with seven evenings of varied entertainment. Highlights include Starlight Orchestra, Hershey Band, boxing and wrestling, a masquerade, amateur night, and a grand finale with the Oriental Syncopaters.
The Monarchs beat Hershey All-Collegiates 44 to 28 on Friday and crushed Hershey Post American Legion 76 to 21 on Saturday. Key players included Magrini and Purcell with multiple field goals and several foul goals contributing to both wins.
The local camp of the P O S A held an essay contest on Why I am glad I am an American. Jill of 7A won first prize with a patriotic piece about America's government and freedoms, Grace Lloyd noted among top winners, with Lois Gilman, “Spark Plug,” taking second prize praising Christianized, democratic American life.
Three Easter weddings unfold in Hershey and nearby areas. Harry Ebersole of Hummelstown marries Dorothy Stover at her home on March 31 with Rev. M LeRoy Wachter presiding. Ruth Runkle wed Sterling Light at the A B Church in Hershey as her duties at the Chocolate Company continue. Elwood Robinson and Ina Carpenter marry Easter morning at the U B Parsonage with Rev. W E Daugherty officiating, then depart for a honeymoon trip to Mexico.
At the regular meeting of the P O S of A on Monday evening the present members were pleased by an address from Rev. Romig. The talk is part of a series to be given to the Camp from time to time by different speakers. All members are urged to attend every Monday as lectures and other features will benefit attendees.
Hershey Volunteer Fire Co held its monthly meeting with members listed. Chief Conrad reported the Sunday fire at an old mill property near Swa tara to Union Deposit burned to the ground before arrival. Beidleman elected janitor and pledged to keep rooms neat. The group voted to attend a carnival at the Hershey Winter Dance Hall starting Saturday evening.
Friday night features Olivets vs Hummelstown on the Her shey Men's Club floor. Hummelstown, claiming Dauphin County supremacy, brings fast Bordner and a strong fan contingent led by Dick Strickler to urge their team.
The Paramount film Above All Law appears at the Hershey Central Theatre on Saturday April 7. The production features grand sets including the Temple of the Unknown God and the Hall of a Thousand Pillars with a dramatic tale of an architect drawn to India by a prince and his jealous plot. The architect, his fiancee, and daring escapes drive the suspenseful drama with a strong cast.
The Sagebrush Trail, a western film by H. H. Van Loan author of The Virgin of Stamboul, headlines Hershey Central Theatre with an all star cast featuring Ray Stewart Johnny Walker Marjorie Daw and Wallace Beery An added attraction will be Al St John in The Alarm.

Miss Ethel Brubaker, a Hershey High sophomore and non resident from Conewago Township, died April 1 at St Joseph’s Hospital Lancaster from spinal meningitis after measles. Her class paid respects with pink carnations and sweet peas and planned a funeral for April 4.
A weekend fire in the Welsh mountains destroyed fifty acres of timber between Narvon and Alert Stations along the Downingtown and Lancaster branch. It also threatened nearby barns and farms in Lancaster and Chester Counties.
Announcement reports 2000 workers will be employed at the Metropolitan Edison Company plant in Middletown with work starting immediately. The first 30 000 kilowatts unit is expected to be ready to operate next year.
