M S Hershey's birth anniversary observed Sunday in Hershey with M S Hershey Day program at 2 p.m. in the Hershey Community Theatre featuring Centennial Memorial Symphony Orchestra and Milton Hershey School Glee Club directed by Virgil L Alexander. Governor William M Kishpaugh to deliver memorial. invocation by Rev Thomas W Gunnivan. Richard L Uhrich greets the assembly. National Anthem by Centennial Memorial Orchestra. Conducted by William R Smith the concert opens with Wagner Die Meistersinger Prelude then Schubert Unfinished Symphony No 8 and Mendelssohn Incidental Music to A Midsummer Night's Dream.

Centennial Memorial Symphony to headline Hershey Day concert
The Centennial Memorial Symphony Orchestra, ninety top musicians from the Philadelphia Orchestra, will perform at Hershey Community Theatre Sunday at 2 PM to salute Hershey’s founder on the 100th anniversary of his birth. No admission or tickets required. Conductor Eugene Ormandy’s associate, Smith, will lead the program. They will perform with the Philadelphia Orchestra as members.

Hershey Estates and the Union have negotiated for some time toward a new contract. The present contract expires at midnight Monday September 16, though rumors of an earlier date circulated.
