Halloween Parade Plans Set by Derry PTA in Hershey
The Halloween celebration will be held Thursday October 30 starting at 6 30 p m with a parade from Ceylon Avenue to Hershey Stadium. Prizes totaling 150 in cash and merchandise will be awarded in local floats groups and individual entries. Registration 5 30 to 6 15 at Hershey High School with parade marshal Brent Hancock and route via Ceylon Avenue Mill Road Park Boulevard to stadium.

Hershey community hosts Trick or Treat on Friday October 31 to raise funds for Church World Service relief projects. Children collect donations 6 to 7 p m then watch cartoons and a film at the Community Building 7 to 8 30 p m with refreshments served 8 to 8 30 p m by Phi Theta Kappa and local church members. Committees led by Rev Gunnivan and Rev Rader handle program publicity refreshments and treasurer duties.

Three Hershey men Dr John O Hershey Willard Johns and Rufus K Hollinger were honored at the Boy Scouts Swatara District Recognition Dinner held at Olmsted Air Force Base Middletown. Dr Hershey received the district trophy and the Order of Merit while Johns and Hollinger also earned Order of Merit citations. The event, with Col H G Mac Daniel as principal speaker, drew 160 attendees.

Veteran Cost Accountant Retires After 44 Years at Hershey
Edward B. Lewis retired from Hershey Chocolate Corporation after 44 years with the company including 36 years in Cost Accounting. He started September 18 1911, served in WWI and WWII era units, and was honored with a party August 19, the couple’s joint birthday.
