The Hershey Ministerial Association elected Rev. Dr. J. R. MacDonald president, who will assume duties in September, succeeding Rev. Kermit L. Lloyd. Reelected secretary is Rev. Robert M. Lezenby. treasurer Rev. William Sheldon Blair.
More than 250 voices from Hershey High School vocal groups perform during National Music Week in a Choral Music Night at the school auditorium on Friday May 9 starting at 7 30. The Eighth and Ninth Grade Chorus Girls Chorus and Senior High Mixed Chorus appear plus the boys quartet noted for state honors.
The annual Derry Township Memorial Day observance is sponsored by Hershey Post 386 American Legion Hershey Memorial Post 3502 and Veterans of Foreign Wars. The parade starts May 30 at 9 15 a m and ends at the Court of Honor at the Community Building where Lt Colonel Daniel Rogers will speak.
The 23rd annual Pennsylvania German Folklore Society meeting will be held at the Community Building in Hershey starting 9 30 a m. Lectures on Pennsylvania German research precede a cooking demonstration by Mrs Landis R Helfer Jr of Hershey.
Milton Hershey School outlines a two day Parents Weekend May 10 and 11 with open house at cottages and elementary facilities, an elementary minstrel in Memorial School, and an evening program by Intermediate and Senior Divisions themed Education Meets the Challenge for Today. A Hobby Show with prizes highlights Saturday activities under coordinator William Hoover and Miss Lynette Waller. Alfred T. Gibbledn leads the Hobby Show.
Earl E. Alger, class of 1954 from Hershey High School and Campbelltown resident, receives the University of Delaware Walter Hullihen Memorial Trophy for top overall contribution as a senior. He also earns a Veterans of Foreign Wars prize as one of two outstanding Cadet Regiment company commanders in ROTC.
