Women from several Hershey churches met at Derry Presbyterian Church on February 20 to form a Council of Church Women aligned with state and national councils. A May installation of officers and charter signing is planned. Temporary leadership includes Mrs. J Herbert Miller as chairman and Mrs. Joseph Gumpher as secretary. Hershey Woman Receives Freedoms Foundation Award
Mrs. Harry L. Erdman of 59 East Derry Road earned a Freedoms Foundation Award at Valley Forge during a Washington’s Birthday ceremony. She has taught citizenship in Derry Township Schools adult evening classes often aiding newcomers to become good citizens. President Eisenhower and former President Hoover are honorary patrons.
