The Hershey Highmeadow Camp on ten acres by Swatara Creek will open May 1 1963 with 50 tent sites. Facilities include tables flush toilets showers and firewood. fishing and boating nearby. Family rate is $2 per night from May 1 to September 30 and is located near old Route 422 and Route 39 Airport Road.
Postmaster Merl W. Seavers urges residents to mail Christmas cards and gifts early using First Class Mail and 4c Christmas stamps. He stresses including a return address on every envelope and notes the local office will stay open all day for Saturday December 15th service.
Retired Hershey Chocolate Corporation and Hershey Estates staff will be honored at a 6:00 p.m. Christmas party on Monday December 17 at the Hershey Community Building. Invitations from S F Hinkle Arthur R Whiteman and James E Bobb note arrival through the Community Theatre entrance on Caracas Avenue with parking opposite the lot. A dinner and Theatre program are planned ending about 8:45 p.m. Postal cards enclosed with invitations must be returned by December 7 for tickets and details.
Hershey Hospital, via the Hershey Telephone Company, revised and expanded its communications. A new Automatic Electric switchboard with twenty trunk lines and up to one hundred stations was installed, currently using ten trunk lines and about fifty stations. Patient rooms now have direct dialing within the Hershey local area, an automatic dial system links departments, and a paging system was added.
