Dedication of the Derry Township Elementary School will align with M S Hershey Day on September 12. A. Sterling King leads the committee with Dr L Eugene Jacques and others planning exhibits of old time schoolroom objects and Hershey educational memorabilia.

Dr L Eugene Jacques is named the new Derry Township Schools superintendent and will speak at the first PTA meeting of the term on September 20. A get acquainted social hour for September 2 will feature the superintendent, teachers, and parents of new pupils, with PTA officers and committee chairs organizing the events.
Registration for kindergarten and First Grade at Derry Township Elementary School will occur next week from August 23 to 27. Principal A Sterling King urges parents to register children in the principal's office during hours 9 to 11 30 a m and 1 to 3 30 p m to avoid first day confusion. Children must be five by February 1, 1955 for kindergarten and six for First Grade. birth and vaccination certificates are required.

Hershey Park police and guests will attend a chicken dinner at the Indian Echo Hotel in Hummelstown on Monday evening, August 23. A program of entertainment and door prizes is arranged by the committee led by Clem ent Miller with members Ray Souders Cyril Little Howard Baum Paul Hetrick Jack Williams Earl Kohr Richard H McCrone Jack Wetzel and Robert P Sternberger.
Lloyd F Walters of 342 North Twelfth Street Lebanon has left the Hershey Chocolate Corporation to enter military service. He was employed in Almond Cleaning.
Pennsylvania Dutch Days feature a Pennsylvania Poultry Festival with a tent city at the park athletic field. A Saturday full of events opens with a 11 a.m. chicken barbecue feeding 15 000 to 20 000, and closes with the crowning of the Pennsylvania Poultry Queen at Hershey Stadium. Fifteen regional queens vie for the state crown while Dutch foods, crafts, and quilt demonstrations fill the three day celebration. The Dairy Cattle Show expands to eight counties with a $4100 prize list featuring Ayrshire Guernsey Holstein Friesian and Jersey cattle.)
Miss Emma M Ulrich a Palmyra resident and daughter of the Demingers and Ulrichs retired after nearly thirty years with Hershey Chocolate Corporation and Hershey Estates She began at the Chocolate Corporation in 1924 and later worked as a seamstress at the Department Store since 1943 Her moves from Harper's region to Palmyra in 1921 and her long view of Hersheys growth are noted Continued on Page Two.
