Hershey High Students Leave Superior Marks District Music Contest
Fourteen Hershey High School students placed among fifteen hundred contestants at the Pennsylvania Music and Forestry League District Contest held at Central Dauphin High School. The boys quartet of James Garrett Terry Garman Rodney Stoessel James Kling and Judy Birnstiel earned top superior ratings. Other strong showings came from the trumpet trio Douglas Hershey Elaine Kalenevitch and Richard Hiler the woodwind quintet Betsy Aungst Barbara Geesey Mary McConnell Judy Burd and Emalene Rodoffer and pianist Nancy Whipple. The Hershey quartet will advance to the state contest in Harrisburg in late April joined by the high school mixed chorus band Student conductor Robert Seltzer and chorus student conductor Thomas Longenecker.
