Suspect fires on officer during hospital transport
A 34 year old Lewisville man, Jessie Douglas Guyden III, opened fire on a Dallas detective transporting a woman to a hospital after an alleged assault. He led authorities on a chase to Gainesville, took a hostage in a restaurant, and shot himself, dying the next day. The detective and alleged victim were unharmed.

Church Hill Middle School sixth graders lead a weekend collection outside Wal Mart at 1209 Interstate 35 South for care packages to soldiers in Iraq. The drive runs Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and continues through March 23.
