Local middle school chess teams place at Guadalupe tournament
Students from Spring Branch Middle and Arlen Seay Intermediate competed at Guadalupe Community Center in San Antonio on Jan 6. Mark Abolafia-Rosenzweig led individuals Ronnie Abolafia-Rosenzweig, Memo Suarez, Josh Garrison, Eric Mercado, Eric Flores, Taylor Lathrop, Dylan Klaus, and Charlie Cevallos. Abolafia-Rosenzweig won all five games to take first in middle school. Suarez, Garrison, and Mercado also placed high. Team results had Spring Branch in first, with Bush Middle School 1.5 points back after a solid run.
