Eight Date Baits Club Seek NB Clubhouse In Coffee Pot Cafe
In 1943 eight seventh graders at New Braunfels High formed the Eight Date Baits, meeting to discuss school activities and boy interest. They sought to buy a three story coffee pot shaped restaurant on Old Highway 81 as a clubhouse, but the mayor declined when the building was found to be condemned. The tale endures as a light memory of youth and a local archival piece.
