Fugitive Rex Brinlee Jr Surrenders Quietly in Oklahoma
Rex Brinlee Jr., an escapee from the Oklahoma State Penitentiary, turned himself in after a chance encounter at Jones Grocery in CANADIAN. Guard C A Pearce identified him and coordinated the surrender. Brinlee, one of several inmates who escaped on June 19, walked outside with Pearce to discuss the matter before returning to the store to call for prison officials. The escape sparked a major manhunt. two other killers remain at large near Stigler in eastern Oklahoma.

British women sail to celebrate bicentennial voyage ends

Girl Drowns In Manitowoc River West End
A seven year old Manitowoc girl Michaelle L Wilder drowned in the Manitowoc River near Conroe Street Saturday afternoon. The child was swimming with others when she vanished for about five minutes before being found and resuscitation begun.
