Manitowoc appoints Reinhart Herzog new fire chief
Reinhart E. (Reine) Herzog, 48, a 24 year veteran of the Manitowoc Fire Dept, was chosen by the Common Council to head the 58 member force. The appointment takes effect June 16 with a monthly salary of 1251 plus fringe benefits. Herzog succeeds James N. Danielson who retires after 40 years. He will discontinue ambulance and bus service participation within 60 days. Herzog joined the department January 1, 1950 and has risen through ranks to captain. He and his wife Jeannine Bruechert live at 2706 Clark St. Manitowoc.
