Iceberg sinks ferry off Labrador coast in 1030s incident
The 8,300 ton ferry William Carson sank after heavy ice ruptured its hull near Square Islands off Labrador. SOS sent at 8 43 pm with abandoning ship follow up thirty minutes later. About three hours later the vessel went down with 1000 tons of cargo including 4432 vases of beer, all passengers and crew rescued from ice floes and lifeboats.
