Lost State Seal Found in Madison Wisconsin
The Wisconsin state seal is back in use after a misadventure where a relocation to a Chicago engraver led to its loss. Secretary of State Douglas La Follette reported a fast return with about 100 documents stamped in the first hour and a plan to keep a stockpile of gold seals for urgent papers. A new automatic unit costing at least $2,000 will speed operations while the old hand press is kept as a historical backup.
