Rootworm Warning For Wisconsin In 1977
Wisconsin agriculture officials warned of potential severe corn rootworm damage in 1977. Entomologist Lee Lovett reported 14.8 eggs per pint of soil, highest in the south, with fewer than five in the north and central areas. Damage risk rises when five or more eggs per pint appear in fields planted two or more consecutive years. Crop rotation helps, while winterkill and chemicals may lessen harm.
