More Facilities for Fishermen Provided in Manitowoc Area
City of Manitowoc and Chamber of Commerce plan expanded amenities for visiting fishermen ahead of the influx. Five portable toilets will be placed near Reed Avenue Waldo Boulevard Cleveland Avenue Lincoln Park and the west end of the south government pier with fish cleaning sites at five locations including the Commercial Street ramp. Parking will run along both sides of Cleveland Avenue with limited spaces on Waldo near the Little Manitowoc River bridge. Cleanup will be by the Cemetery and Parks Dept and the City Police Dept will monitor litter. A fact sheet from the Chamber and Fishing Hot Line will be available citywide. Estimates show 400 anglers daily in late September early fall with weekend totals around 740, and state officials expect large runs of king and coho salmon in the Little Manitowoc River.
