Reports Hint at High Wool Prices in 1905 Oregon

Reports from Boston claim eastern Oregon and Idaho wool contracts as high as twenty cents per pound, alarming Boston commission houses. Secretary Joe H. Gwinn of the Oregon Woolgrowers' association says the rumors are exaggerated, noting little Oregon wool contracted and prices known only to buyers and sellers. He urges markets to stay steady to prevent a spring stampede that could demoralize Oregon's wool markets. Idaho and Utah wool have been sold or contracted, but Gwinn hopes Oregon will maintain pool and sales days and avoid price spikes to support growers.
