Dispute Over Insurance After Hanbys Flood Death
The 1903 Heppoer flood killed Emma Hanby and husband Harry Hanby. Insurance of 2000 dollars goes to Mrs Hanby’s heirs unless proof shows she died after him. A suit to determine heirs and the 5000 dollar policy proceeds was filed in Multnomah County Court, with the Modern Woodmen of America paid into court. The administrator accepted a settlement offer of 125 dollars, and the circuit court case will be dismissed with Harry Hanby’s heirs to receive the remaining funds.
