Retains a Mystery The Disappearance of Chas Hubbard

Charles Hubbard Heppner stage driver vanished Sunday morning after securing wages and preparing to operate the stage. He was last seen heading toward the stable, leaving wraps and lodging paid, with about 20 dollars in his possession. Authorities report no intoxication. theory centers on temporary insanity. The town also notes a baptism, church meeting, and election results.

Heath Arrested in Mountain Case Over False Money Orders

Victor H Heath was arrested last Thursday in the mountains beyond Hardman by Sheriff Shutt on a wire from Everett Washington via Sheriff Brewer of Snohomish county. He faces a charge of obtaining money order false pretenses as Brewer took him to Everett without requisition papers. Heath claims the affair is a farce and that he and a partner are timber locaters who lent money on claims south of Hardman a year ago and now demand refunds.

Degree of Honor Lodge Social After Meeting Features Music

At the close of a lodge meeting last Wednesday two candidates were initiated. The Degree of Honor held a social with a two hour entertainment featuring a solo by J. A. McKee and a duet by Misses Carr and Drinkell. A luncheon followed, prepared by committee members Mrs J. K. Carr Mrs J. L. r and Mrs W. P. Scrivner, who received thanks for the hospitality.

Local dignitary visits town and schoolhouse updates

Hon Thomas W Ayera was in town a few hours Monday. A new sidewalk fronts the schoolhouse. Mr Louie Doll teaches at Social Ridge schoolhouse while A A builds a structure between the blacksmith shop and post office. Methodist church work advances with weather. Odd Fellows report a 4 time Wednesday with several visiting members present.

Local notes from Eight Mile and area visitors

Tilman Hogue rents Jobo and Lee Cantwell place while Jim Keighten is away. Several visitors travel through Eight Mile including Mr and Mrs E. B. Stanton of Walla Walla and Robby and Harvey Young. Sheep work and grain concerns mix with weather and wood shortages as locals report losses and routine farm activity.

Three Ione Couples Wed at Palace Hotel Ceremony

Justice J P Williams tied the marital knot for C M Connor and Albina Brackett, Frank B Colvin and Carrie Robertson, and Thos J Johnson and Cora Shipley at the Palace hotel parlors Saturday evening. All residents of Ione except Miss Shipley of Heppner. Presented as well known Mosow county youths with warm friendships and congratulations from Timea readers.

Cattle Stolen Near Long Creek In Two Pastures

The Canyon City Eagle reports cattle thefts near Long Creek. Stolen were three steers from Dan Slaven, one cow from W B Mynatt, one three year old steer from Frank McGirr, and one cow from Ted Haneen. Four head were taken from Mynatt and two from Blackwell. Two men were seen driving cattle toward Pendleton by Stephen Harer. Stock may have been sold for beef, fate unknown.

Beloved Citizen Julia Wright dies in Heppner

The death of Mrs Julia Wright a longtime Morrow county resident is mourned She was born in New York in 1824 crossed the plains to Oregon in 1853 and lived in Clackamas county before moving to this county in 1873 She reared six children five surviving with husband Albert Wright The M E church service led by Rev H L Beigh tol drew a large crowd to the cemetery.
