Harvey Divilbiss faces a move to Nebraska to test settling there, while a new postmistress is noted showing partiality and offering to register matters.
Garfield memorial services were held at the M E church with a full audience and prayers by Rev Denning and others. Catholic services occurred in the morning and village business paused 1 to 3 pm. A parish supper raised about 55 dollars for the minister’s salary. Funeral for Miss Speer last Thursday filled the church. Several locals and visitors attended including Miss Watercott and Mr Marriott. Mat Dursley returned from the mines and many locals planned to attend the state fair.
Post 83 G.A.R. held a meeting today at 2 PM in the M E church with Rev H Brink preaching Garfield’s funeral sermon. The house was full and the event praised for its orderly execution. Next Friday a grand ball at the hall and a course of lectures for the season are planned. success is hoped to benefit the community.
The Sunday school at Caledonia closed with L H Farr as superintendent. Miss Helen Broaddus visited Collins and reports Miss Mara ill. Mr Miller and family mourn their buried son. O H Ransom moved to 8 Halley's timber. A M Kincaid digs a well near Tonoa for a Kays brothers creamery. W F Trone and W A Smith install tiles and improvements. Nellie Shields and Eva Smith plan Iowa winter and a Gardner visit. Mrs Philson ill. W G Grosscup shows a Duke Bros. buggy.
