Fragmented Native and settler notes mix in scattered 1880s recollections

A long, rambling excerpt blends references to Native American life, Christian missionaries, and local political events with remarks on marriage, babies, and social customs. The text intertwines Indigenous figures like Yekawampaite and Parson Eli with colonial observers, reflecting a mosaic of 19th century attitudes and anecdotes.
