Merchants' Carnival Impresses Clear Creek Crowd

The Southern Carnival Co presented 14 shows at Magnolia Grange Fair in Clear Creek Illinois September 24 25 26 1902 drawing crowds daily despite rain. Highlights included hypnotist Boone and a high dive from 90 feet with Mr Gay, Queen Maud McVicker Kane coronation parade, and decorated rigs prizes won by Charles Holmes and Charles Motter III.

The Chicago Daily Tribune reports burglars hit G. H. Fiedler’s tailor shop at 213 Thirty-fifth Street stealing $300 in cloth. They replied with a taunting letter about the stock and warned of a return break in, mentioning cartridges and a plan to reopen the rear window. The shop window was left ajar the next morning.
