Obituary of Eben O Swift Pioneer Merchant of Sparland
Eben O Swift died in Chicago on September 5 188. Born in Fenner New York he moved to Marshall County Illinois in 1848. He helped build the first depot at Spartana and became senior partner of Swift & Brother in hardware and furniture. He later moved to Chicago in 1886 and resided there. He married Nancy Tarbill in 1855. five children survived including Rush and Mrs Ross Haines. Funeral held at the Sparland Methodist church with Masonic rites at Bonham cemetery.
