A Saturday morning meeting at P. S. Perley's office organized a winter lecture course. John Barnard was named chairman and George Burt Jr. as secretary. D. W. Danley outlined aims, noting needs for books and scientific apparatus, with Stetson and Perley involved in planning lectures and readings.
A plan for an interfaith lecture series with readings in English and German, music, and occasional debates was approved to raise funds for school appliances. Tickets priced at 16 cents for adults and 10 cents for children. 12 adult tickets offered at 150 dollars.
Local correspondence recounts the marriage of James M Harmon to Thankful Maria Ames in Bradford and updates on residents: households moved, new barber opens, merchants at cost, odd incidents at Brasfield Tartill, churn manufacture by Walker Compton, hog shipments, Odd Fellows lodge trip, and a small school in La Prairie with Prof Cox teaching at eleven dollars per term.

Annie Speer marks her 14th birthday with friends. John Bigley wins ferry funding contract for Soo. Patrick Dove’s store nears completion with shelving and counters. Town men dig potatoes as S. G. Leech buys grain. 25,000 bushels of potatoes shipped to St. Louis on the Lady Lee.
Mrs Smith shows new millinery and offers personal service to ladies. Court sits this week with many locals in attendance. Farmers struggle to market an abundant potato crop as prices stay low. Five new converts joined the church this Sabbath. Visitors include Mrs Harris from Pilotengo and Mr and Mrs Cox from Green River visiting HOD Winship. Lon Hitchcock and Gil Hick Mapes also called.
