Funeral Mass and Burial at St Josephs Church

At 9:30 a.m. Rev Fr Brennan led a high mass and sermon urging conformity to Divine teaching for Heaven in St Josephs church. The funeral proceeded to St Josephs cemetery where remains were placed in a steel vault. Casket bearers included Frank Baer Lott Sullivan Joseph Siewers John Barry James Barry and Frank Dwyer with C Doran in charge. Floral offerings conveyed sympathy from friends.

Kantalkenue Club Shower for Miss Seelye at Allen Hillabrand home

A Kantalkenue club social honors Miss Ethel Seelye with a surprise shower at Allen Hillabrand's home. Gifts include cut glass and linen. Mrs J Hillabrand and Mrs A R Shreffler served pink and white refreshments as guests enjoyed games and the evening.

New Jerusalem Church Schedules Services and Reception

Rev L G Landenberger will lead Sunday morning and evening services at the Church of the New Jerusalem. The 11 a m sermon recalls an Illinois association talk on sin and the Holy Supper. Evening topic covers infancy salvation. The Holy Supper will be offered at the morning meeting. The Methodist congregation plans a reception for Rev Glenn B Tilton and family on Monday October 22. St Joseph’s Church changes winter mass times with 8:20 am first mass and 10:00 am second mass on Sunday, 7:30 am weekday mass.

Forty Hours Adoration Begins at St Marys Next Sunday

St Marys Catholic Church plans high mass at 8 am with the forty hours adoration procession after mass. A low mass follows at 10:30 am, then 7:30 pm sermon and benediction. Monday and Tuesday masses are at 6, 8, and 9 am with a 7:50 pm sermon and benediction ending with Tuesday night procession. Shoppers in Peoria on Tuesday included Mrs Feaster and Mrs Wade Horn. Frank Huffstetter visited his brother at Varna over the Sabbath. Tiereera Grace Huffstetter, a Peoria telephone operator, visited her parents Sunday. Thomas Wabel moved to Henry from Bureau county and into the Andrew Hunter house Monday. Curtis Dawson began work at the Cadillac garage in Princeton and will relocate there later this week. Judge Green of Pekin traveled through Henry to open Putnam county circuit court. A W R C meeting is set for Saturday at 3 PM in K P hall. George H Stoughton of Hartford Conn will spend the weekend with cousin A B Smith. James Wabel of Normal is visiting as Charles and family prepare to leave for Louisiana. G B Fenwick moves into the corner building recently bought from J H Jones. J H Pearson bought 40 acres of Horrocks brothers and plans a coal mine nearby. Civil War veterans from Tiskilwa were recalled at a soliex reunion noting only two remain alive. F T Brown bought the Fied led building and will move his pool hall there early next year. Douglas Hawse, son of John Hawse, loses his left arm in a carnival accident, a severe lifelong handicap. Banker Jesse Barker of Peoria died by suicide at his Mass Avenue home. Henry chapter No 447 initiated four candidates and hosted visiting officers. Newport Ice Cream and Candy Co will open in the Yaeger building, serving home made ice cream, candy and light lunches. M A Adams of Galva and his wife stayed in Henry to tend Mary Duke’s parents’ graves and plan a monument. Adams is retiring from Galva market after 30 years. The Adamses plan winter in the south and visited Mrs George Helper in Magnolia township.
