James Wilson, an early Henry County settler and carpenter, died Tuesday afternoon at his son Bruce Wilson’s home in Saratoga Township at age 1. He came to Henry in 1861 from Indiana, worked as a tractor builder and farmer, and was a Baptist. Survived by his second wife Amanda Ireland and four children Leslie Faust Elizabeth May. funeral held at Bruce Wilson’s home with Rev. Barly officiating. interment at Sugar Grove Cemetery.

J J Gresser witnessed a Chicago trip then describes a Rock Island line collision at Utica La Salle area where a large boulder on the track crushed the locomotive front and bent cars. Passengers were jostled but not seriously hurt as the train stayed on the canal side and two following trains were flagged. The line delayed for hours while a second engine replaced the derailed unit.

Velme Rowe is the pianist this week. Pupils in various rooms had pictures taken Monday by two wandering photographers. Walter Duke was absent due to illness in his mother. Prof. King attended a meeting of the Hinds Schoolmasters Club on Saturday October 12 at Creve Coeur Peoria. The high school will receive duplicate rock and fossil specimens from the Smithsonian via Hon. Joseph V. Graff. The Work Band will be placed in the basement with pupils supplying lumber. Henry and Washburn high schools played a basketball game Friday, Henry winning 20 to 6, followed by a social dance. Miss Eva Maude Ronge married Vern D. Brown in Peoria at 2:15 Tuesday. they returned home Wednesday.
