Homecoming Celebration in Henry Illinois Next Tuesday
Henry Whitefield and Hopewell townships plan a big homecoming for service men on Tuesday with a parade, vaudeville, glove contests, free pictures and dancing. Chaplain C R Edgerton of the old 1st Illinois and war-hero will speak at the opera house with Rev Dusenherr and Rev Brennan leading the program. The day features band concerts auto contests, a river train parade and children’s activities with prizes, ending in a large fireworks display.

Los Angeles Sep 24 Former Illinois residents now in Southern California will convene at Santa Catalina Island October 6 to 12 for an Illinois Old Home Week festival. James A Tomlinson president of the state society hopes Governor Lowden and Mayor Thompson attend. William Wrigley of Chicago will be present. The event inaugurates a series of Old Home Weeks by state societies and aims to turn Avalon into Illinois Week with streets renamed and Chicago hotels. Plans include entertainment from croquet to tuna fishing and a Hotel Chicago renaming for the duration.

School Notes Highlight September Activities and Visits
Mrs Dewey and Mrs Curtis with two daughters visited first and third grades Friday. The school held several September fire drills and welcomed County Superintendent King Tuesday afternoon.
