Forged Check Plot Involving Young Men On Road Gang
A 19 year old white man using the alias Bill Bullet secured a job with a southern road crew, lodged at the Camp House, and along with a companion named C Jackson forged two checks for 28.75 and 29.25 after robbing Hans Otto at his hotel room. They fled on a north bound freight train after dining at Friday and Heininger’s. The theft included Otto’s suit and shoes, with the pair later cashing the checks at local shops. The sheriff searched for them but they escaped in Dr. McLain’s automobile. The incident coincided with separate notices about new teachers hired at Henry High School and county supervisor bill procedures.
