Drowning of Will McGowan on the David Swain steamer
Will McGowan of Lacon a carpenter on the David Swain drowned early Saturday near Pekin Illinois after being awakened and rolling overboard. Coroner Niergarth credited accidental drowning with the body recovered near Wesley City. McGowan 36 leaves a widowed mother and siblings. burial planned in Lacon.

Henry team played ten innings against Lacon in a close game, tying in the ninth and winning in the tenth with a two run burst. Auto Accident Near Magnolia Injures Seelye Family
Engineer William Seelye of the Coal Washer near Magnolia loses brakes on a Maxwell touring car descending Spotted Dutchman hill. The vehicle overturns after striking a deep rut, throwing Seelye his wife and child from the car. all are bruised but none seriously injured. They are taken to Drs. Coggeshall & Cromwell for examination and later to Motter livery. The car is left in a dilapidated condition. An onlooker, L. H. Boyle, assisted. Seelye remarks the crash left the car worthless after repairs. Also notes Water-Queer theater exhibit next Wednesday and Robert Lash driving a new Moline.
