First Annual Regatta on Illinois River Draws Big Crowd
The first Illinois Valley Yacht Club regatta between Peoria and Henry drew 39 boats to the finish at Henry with the Rezwat winning the Henry perpetual cup. Webb cash prizes totaled 100 dollars for top finishers, while the Ben Hur and Addis claimed other honors. The event featured a three mile handicap for the Lake Senachwine trophy, won by Ben Hur, and a large social gathering with hatties, a dinner, and a notable presentation to Peoria Herald-Transcript staffer A T Griffith.
