Lacon Subscribes to New Bridge Plan in City Account
The Lacon Home Journal reports a new bridge project for Lacon is highly likely, with over 75 percent of the $65,000 needed already subscribed. A stock company will build and lease it to the city, which will gradually own it after annual payments. The Decatur Bridge Co has subscribed $10,000, signaling safety of the investment. Receipts are projected to rise from $3,638 to about $4,000 with the new bridge, plus an extra $1,000 yearly tax support to retire debt. The increase is expected to be barely noticeable to citizens.
