The canal commissioners plan a telephone wire from Lockport to La Salle while a proxy committee failed to meet last Thursday and was postponed to August. Huse Loomis & Co. sue in Chicago federal court to stop tolls on ice from La Salle to Henry claiming the Illinois River is a public navigable highway.
